She asked me this morning, she said “if all of our bibles were taken away, and we had none of God’s word, would we have read enough to remember how to keep ourselves saved?” Food for thought. Ask yourself that question. If the answer is no, you know what to do.
To the person who made the comment about “too much emphasis being put on the bible” All scripture is how a Christian learns of Christ and how to live in a way that is pleasing to God. Scripture was given to the church to teach us how to grow in grace and knowledge of him John 1:1 says 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 says 4 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jesus being the word made flesh came to fulfil the law and to give us life. The word of God brings life to us.
Proverbs 7:1-3 says My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
If we do not know Gods word and do not “write it upon the table of our hearts” how can we keep them.
We are to study Gods word and know how to handle our lives, praying that by spiritually discerning the scriptures we can obtain eternal life.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
John 5:39 says Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Without the scriptures we have no foundation to build on, we have to ready and study everyday, it is our road map so to speak.
2 Timothy3 :16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
People today need to realize that prayer and the word of God is what will keep you strong, and in the day that Christ returns all men will be judged by scripture even when Jesus was tempted of the devil, he used scripture to defeat him. All these reasons above is why the scriptures are so important to me and if something happens in this world and my bible is taken away.I want Gods word in my heart. When Gods judgement came to the world the first time there were only 8 people spared. If that happened today, would you be one that would be spared? I want to be one who is ready and watching for his return.
